Ideal Health Weight Loss Clinic
Sterchi Chiropractic is expanding our clinical offerings and will be starting the Ideal Health Weight Loss Clinic. The Ideal Health Clinic will be offering Ideal Protein.Ideal Protein is a medically designed weight loss program that focuses on two key components – weight loss and a healthier lifestyle education. Caitlin Sterchi, DC, will be returning to practice to run the Ideal Health Weight Loss Clinic.

The Ideal Protein protocol works by using high quality protein foods, with a low carb and low fat diet. This creates a process called “ketosis,” which forces your body to get necessary energy from burning fat. Average weight loss on the program is 3-5 lbs/week for women, and 5-7 lbs/week for men. The program uses weekly visits with your coach to measure your progress, ensure your individual goals are being met, and you are doing all you can to succeed in losing the weight, and practicing healthy habits to keep it off.

This diet is specifically for people that have a lot of weight to lose, those who fail to lose weight with diet and exercise alone, or anyone that wants to live a heathier and cleaner lifestyle.

We are hosting a free open house Tuesday, October 24 from 5:30-7pm. Please come meet our coaches, try some of the Ideal Protein food, and learn more about this program. Space is limited to 40 people, please RSVP at 630-553-8393.

KENDALL COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS FAMILY AND FRIENDS

New addition to the Chamber - Kendall County Special Olympics Team!
Do you all know that Kendall County has over 100 athletes in and around Yorkville that compete in 7 sports in Special Olympics? KCSO Family and Friends is an independent, volunteer, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization which is entirely self-funded through community donations. We support over one hundred athletes throughout Kendall County and the surrounding areas, ranging in age from eight to eighty, and have been doing so for over 40 years.

Our hometown athletes compete in Special Olympics at the local, state and national levels.  We have even been honored to send 4 athletes to compete in the World Games, with our most recent athlete going to South Korea!  Our organization not only provides opportunities for sports competition such as Bowling, Swimming, Golf, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Power Lifting and Track and Field, but also a village for their families and care givers to bond and support one another.  In addition to the sporting events, we also sponsor some social ones too!  This gives our athletes an opportunity to have some fun, come out of their shells and bond with one another.

We have several fundraisers over the year such as a golf outing and a fun festival where we procure prizes for a raffle from area businesses among other things.  We hope partnering with the Chamber will helps us connect with the community to help our athletes compete and have fun. School communications professionals from throughout Illinois were honored on Friday, September 15 during the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association’s (INSPRA) Annual Communications Contest and Golden Achievement Awards luncheon at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Oakbrook.

Yorkville CUSD 115 won awards in four categories, including the top Golden Achievement Award, which went to Kristine Liptrot and Dr. Timothy Shimp for the entry, "Strategic Plan Awareness Campaign." The other awards won by District 115 were Awards of Excellence for the district newsletter and staff newsletter, and an Award of Merit for the district's Strategic Plan document.

More than 160 entries were submitted in the categories of annual reports, calendars/handbooks, electronic publications, financial information, marketing materials, newsletters, podcasts/audio, social media, videos, websites, writing and special purpose. Entries were judged against criteria of excellence, and only those receiving top scores in a variety of areas received awards. NSPRA chapter members from Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin served as judges for those categories. Golden Achievement Awards also were given for projects that encompass all aspects of a public engagement program, from research to planning, implementation and evaluation. KIND HANDS SENIOR CARE I & II

Why Kind Hands Senior Care Homes exist in Yorkville
We exist because we love seniors and respect our elders and believe God would have us care for seniors giving them great care, great food, and great companionship at a great price 30-45% less than institutional care. We exist because senior care is often too expensive with unacceptable ratios of care as high as 1 caregiver to 20 residents so instead we provide 1 caregiver to 4 residents with no long term contracts. We believe in great care for seniors.

Call 630-508-8357 for a tour of either ranch style home in Yorkville.

FOX VALLEY UNITED WAY

Thank You!
A big thank you to everyone that joined us this past Sunday for our outing at Topgolf. We were humbled at the size of the crowd and all of the support. Much gratitude goes out to our amazing sponsors and to the companies that donated such generous items for our raffle and silent auction. We would also like to thank our incredible volunteers on the Resource Development Committee that gave so much time and effort to make sure that this first time event was such a big success!

As a result of your generosity, Fox Valley United Way will be able to have an even greater impact in the community that we live and work in. We appreciate you joining the fight and making a difference in the Fox Valley area for better health, education and financial stability in our community. It takes a village and that is what "Living United" is all about.

United Way Harvey Recovery Fund
United Way Worldwide has established the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund, a national fund which will distribute 100 percent of donations for recovery in the affected areas, community by community, in the months and years ahead. The fund will facilitate the donation process for United Way donors and partners who want to offer financial support to storm victims in Texas, Louisiana and the affected areas. The inaugural donation to this newly established fund was from the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF), which made a $1 million contribution to directly support victims who have been impacted across the region.

As of September 7, the United Way Network has raised more than $26.56 million for mid- and long-term recovery efforts related to Hurricane Harvey.  This includes donations to the National United Way Fund and to funds set up by local United Ways.

As United Way continues to assist with recovery efforts in Texas, Louisiana and other areas affected by Hurricane Harvey, United Way World Wide is closely monitoring Hurricane Irma.  In partnership with United Way Florida State Associations and our Caribbean colleagues, United Way worldwide is reaching out as Hurricane Irma moves in.  Our thoughts and prayers go to those in the path of the storm.

YORKVILLE CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

“Love Your Neighbor” Ministry
YCUCC has recently begun a ministry called “Love Your Neighbor” to support refugees coming into our country. A refugee is one category of immigrant, a person who has fled their native land due to persecution and cannot return.  They come to the US through the UN refugee camp program. Assimilation into our culture is difficult at best, and this is added to the trauma that every refugee has already experienced.  Please join us for an Exodus Experience led by Exodus World Service, entitled “Run For Your Life". This enlightening and educational event will be held Sunday, October 29, 11:30am-2pm, at the church. This is an interactive hands-on experience that engages participants physically and emotionally in the refugee experience through simulation. A potluck style lunch of soup and salad will be served prior to the program.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

Book Discussion
An open discussion of the book entitled “Of Beetles and Angels: A Boy’s Remarkable Journey from A Refugee Camp to Harvard by Mawi Asgedom is being held on Sunday, October 22, 11:30am following worship service at the church. A light lunch will be provided. The discussion will be led by members of “Love Your Neighbor” Ministry.  Please contact the church office if you are interested in participating in this discussion.

YCUCC Offers Membership Series
Pastor Mark Gregory and the members of Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ invite anyone interested in learning more about the United Church of Christ and the Yorkville Congregational Church to join Pastor Mark for an informal, informational Search and Discovery series beginning Sunday October 23 and following the 10:00 a.m. worship service.

The group will explore the historical roots of the United Church of Christ and the 175 year presence of the local church. The motto of The United Church of Christ comes from Jesus prayer in John 17 –“That they may all be one”.
Also highlighted is how the UCC functions in our society and meaning of another UCC slogan, “God is Still Speaking”. The challenge of the UCC today is to proclaim in word and action the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to work for reconciliation and unity, and to seek justice and liberation for all.

For participants who are interested in joining the church, Pastor Mark will deal with the meaning, benefits and responsibilities of church membership. Come and learn more about our open and affirming church.  No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey “All are Welcome Here”

PADS Program Volunteers
PADS, the program to provide food and shelter for Kendall County homeless, is still in need of volunteers. This program runs from mid-October to mid-April. You need not be a member of YCUCC to become a PADS volunteer.  Both men and women are needed to cover the three shifts, four hour each. Please contact our church office for more information on how you can help.

Disaster Relief
If you are still undecided where to send your donation to help those affected by the recent hurricanes, please consider the “Emergency USA Fund”. 100% of ALL DONATIONS received will be distributed to the UCC Disaster Ministries to be used for disaster relief and rehabilitation programming within the USA. Make your checks payable to UCC with “Emergency USA Fund noted in the memo area. You can mail or drop of your checks at the church.

MORRIS HOSPITAL YORKVILLE CAMPUS

Volunteers Needed for Rhythm of Our Youth Screenings

Morris Hospital is seeking community volunteers to assist at the Rhythm of Our Youth cardiac screening programs that will be held at Yorkville High School on October 3rd & 4th and at Yorkville Academy on October 11th. The purpose of the screening program is to prevent sudden cardiac death in area high school students by identifying those who may have existing cardiac abnormalities through an ECG screening. Register to volunteer at
www.morrishospital.org/rhythmofouryouthvolunteers.

Rhythm of Our Youth volunteers assist with check-in, escort participants to screening stations, or perform ECGs under the guidance of hospital staff. Volunteers may work full day shifts, 7am-3pm, or half day shifts, 7am-11:30am or 11am-3:30pm, and must be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check. Clinical skills aren’t required.

In addition to working the screening days, volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training session from 6-7:30pm at the high school the night before the screening. Volunteers can work a single screening date or multiple screening dates. For more information contact Jamie Mack at 815-705-1064, or go to
www.morrishospital.org/rhythmofouryouth.

Morris Hospital Seeking Patient Transportation Volunteers
Morris Hospital is actively recruiting volunteers to help transport patients throughout Morris Hospital’s service area to their medical appointments. Currently, the Patient Transportation service provides over 17,000 rides annually, with five buses on the road Mondays-Fridays.

Both drivers and drivers’ assistants are needed. Working in pairs, drivers operate the vehicle, while drivers’ assistants help navigate the route. Both drivers and drivers’ assistants work together to safely assist patients on and off the handicap accessible bus.

Patient Transportation volunteers must be 21 or older, and drivers must have a valid Illinois driver’s license.  A CDL driver’s license is not required.

Patient Transportation volunteer shifts are typically 4-6 hours.  While it is preferred that volunteers work one shift per week, the frequency of volunteering can be adjusted according to the volunteer’s schedule.

“The volunteers with our Patient Transportation service get so much from volunteering,” says Tina Carter, Manager of Patient Transportation at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. “In addition to making new friends and meeting great people, volunteering helps them stay active and gives meaning and purpose to their lives. Many of them tell me that their day is better when they help somebody.”

In addition to attending new volunteer orientation, all Patient Transportation volunteers receive thorough training in order to carry out their specific responsibilities. Uniforms and a picture identification badge are provided. In appreciation of their service, Morris Hospital provides volunteers complimentary flu shots, participation in Morris Hospital fitness classes, meals in the hospital on the day of service, and recognition for service hours.
For more information on volunteering, call Morris Hospital at 815-705-7022.
